Sustainable Industrial Urbanism

My concept for a sustainable NYC 2050 follows two complementary ways of understanding sustainability, one that deals with normative organization and another that addresses the design and urban planning proposals. Transportation, density, and energy can be materialized as an elevated network constructed in modular fragments that could have the ability to adapt to the existing built reality. Long Island City could be used as a small-scale stage for the transformation of the two-dimensional city into a three-dimensional model incorporating the existing fabric into a new level of transportation and communications for industry.
